Hi Guys,
Have an SL62 but having spinout problems with RSR 7.2 (good match) and Talon 36. I'm 70kg.
Is the fin to small. Seems fine when powered up.
Cheers Tony

Hi Tony

7.2 is a good match for sure for the sl62. In terms of fin size, the 36 may indeed be a bit on the small size, but should definitely be doable.

I suggest trying to get some pressure off your back foot, e.g. by putting your base slightly more forward, or by playing around a little bit with the boom hight and harness line position. The goal should be to get more balance between your front and back foot.

Good luck & have fun

Hi Tony,
Agree with Christophe ,also make sure those fin bolts are done up really tight, some people stop when the fin is flush, which in the perfect world would be fine but as all the tuttle fin bases and fin boxes from different brands vary it's important to get the head of the fin locked in to the end taper of the box, otherwise it will be lose, you can shim the ends of your fin bases if needed with pattern mylar, or even a strip of an old coke can, hope this helps.

Hi Ago,
agree 7.2 must be a great match for the SL62. Here is my personal experience. Past season I used it with Falcon 36 and Tomcat 38. At first the idea was to use the Falcon with a 6.6 and the Tomcat with a 7.6 (both TR-5). In the end, I finished always using the Tomcat 38 with both sizes, plus occasionally with a 7.0 TR-4. Felt smallish at times with the larger size. Now I also own a Talon 40 and feels very nice with the SL62 and 7.0 TR-4, maybe slghtly big. Should be OK with 62 and 7.6. The Talon 40 feels small with 7.6 and SL66, I experience a few spin outs too.
That said, I think your 36 Talon should be OK with 62 when well powered up or in really flat water, otherwise a 38 should probably do better.

Hi AGD,

Just for some personal experiences: I used a Talon 40 with 8.0/7.3 and 6.6, and Talon 37 with 7.3/6.6 on an Isonic 111 and never experienced spin-out (amazing fins actually!). My CA 58 does spin out with a Talon 37+7.3 ("slides" to the side when overpowered very easily, especially upwind) .

Ciao

Hey guys I have a 2009 sl62 and use with 6.6 tr4 and 38 tomcat but won a 36 c3 venom in a prize and have been using that when Im fully lit. I've never had any spinout problems even with the 36cm. This board has such amazing range. I was a big fan of the tectonics but find the tomcat a bit to powerfull when really powered up. The c3 top end and control is unlimited
