Speed
Sandy Point
When I was about 15 I was around 1km off Brighton beach on a little sinker wave board heading out with the wind dying out below 15 knots, so I was dogging it with water half way to my knees then I noticed this fin come up about 20 feet away.It was about 1 meter high and just as wide and dark grey,it was heading parallel to me at what seemed like the same speed.
I kept going for about 100 meters (which seemed like an eternity) and then I decided to attempt the flare gybe of my life,I was convinced that if I didn't pull off this one gybe that I was White pointer fodder, when I flipped the sail and started heading in the fin was gone and that just left the long scary slog back to the beach.
In the mid eighties I came 3rd in the state junior wave titles with J.Polokow 1st.
I love doing back loop attempts, I never pull them off but I love trying.

I get vertigo when the wind is over 25 knots!
Stay fit, eat well and enjoy the moment.
