First impressions on SL62

Hi all, my name is Valentino and I want to share with you my experience as a new Carbon Art rider.

After years using the iSonic boards, I met .G.E.O. and discovered the qualities of Carbon Art boards, so I decided to get a very nice '11 SL62.

The board has a truly aggressive shape, sleek lines, sharp rails, a nice volume flow with a powerful tail. Finished to a top level, weight similar to the competition.

I just had two sessions on it, both with a Point-7 AC-1 7.9 '11 sail; Tectonics Talon 38 fin and mast track 1 cm. forward of the mid point (first session), and Talon 40 (second session); wind was 25 + knots.

During the first session I didn't feel perfectly comfortable, mostly due to the new sail and the smallish fin for a 7.9. During the second one, I fully enjoyed the nice shape and modified the trim by pulling the mast track back by about 2 cms.

Flotation is nice for a 97 l board, it carries the 7.9 nicely, even though it's not the ideal size for the SL62: I think 7.0 - 7.2 is. Jibe is very smooth, the board holds its line with ease even in nasty chop and displays a great accelleration out of the turn.

Upwind is very good with the Talon 40, while beam and broad reaches are just breathtaking! The board flies high on the water, but control is extraordinary! Even in the strongest gusts, when it hits a piece of chop and flies leaving only the fin to touch any water, it trims back again immediately.

During my second session I recorded this track: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/84987089

Have you ever tried Valentino the 62 with a 7.0 and 38 fin too?

When that will happen, it will be embarassing for many of us.

I often sail with Valentino in Talamone and can witness his performance level is very high, unexpectedly so from a guy that does not bear sail numbers and does not compete. 33 knots is a big speed for Talamone, I am sure that when he will rig a more proper sail for the 62, like a 7.1 is, Valentino will fly.
