Fin and mastfoot setup on CA SP44 and CA SP50????

Hello,

i need a little help! what is the best fin size in choppy and flat water conditions for the follow sail sizes 6,8 / 6,2 / 5,6 / 5,1 / 4,6 on the ca44 and ca50? and what is the recommended mastfoot position for this two boards?

Thanks

Regards
Claudio

Hi Claudio

Hope others with more speed experience will put in their word too, but I run my mastfoot in the middle on my SP44, or slightly backwards in flatter water. Works well for me.

Cheers

I've found that the speedboards works best if you put the mastfoot about 1 cm from the back. The board sort of flies better and actually goes faster if you put it more backwards.
The boards aren't that fin sensitive, I would say that you can use a 26 (or even 28) cm fin on the 44 if it's choppy conditions - on teh othet hand you can get away with a really small fin also if it's really flat. It's just a matter of getting the board to lift/fly enough over the chop.

Cheers,
Tobias

Hi Claudio,

I use the SP44 with sails 5.0m to 6.6m. In flat water (Sandy Point) I use 21 to 23cm fins with sails up to 5.8m. This board can handle a 6.6m, and actually goes pretty quick with this sail in marginal conditions. I use a 24cm Tectonics for the bigger sails and also with the 5.8m if sailing in slightly choppy conditions.

I usually run my mast position back in the track also (about half way between centre and the back of the track). Best way is to start back and move forward (small increments) until you find the sweet spot!

These board rip! Happy sailing!
