CA Thruster 3K 54 vs Starboard Evil Twin or Quad 74

Hi,

I am considering buying a new waveboard for mainly onshore and sideshore wavesailing 18 knots and above. I weigh around 70 kg and plan to use a 5m and 4.2m on this board. Is the 3K aimed at this sort of conditions and how does it stack up agains the starboards evil twin or quad.

Cheers

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I don't have any experience with the Evil Twin or Quad but I can highly recommend the 3K wave.
I've got the 3K 56 myself and I'm around 80 kg. I use it with 4.5 to 5.3 in side-off to onshore conditions and it works unreal.

Just go for 3K 54! It's perfect for the sails and the conditions you plan to use it for.

Cheers

Christophe

I have been sailing my 3K for 3 months and must say I love it! This is definitely a full on wave board built for wave riding in all kinds of waves and conditions. The rocker and outline are both screaming wave riding and surf, not the fastest in the straight but so turny on the wave! One of the big advantages is the ability to make really tight turns and still keep up the speed. This makes the positioning and timing a lot easier and the wave ride gets much more exciting. Keeping your speed up in the turns is also a key feature if you, like me, sail in slower waves that are not so steep. You can position yourself much higher up on the wave and avoid the annoying experience to outrun the wave… In mushy onshore I have experienced better grip and control when surfing white water.

Compared with the SC the 3K can feel a bit wobbly if you get really overpowered but once up on the wave you just laugh and enjoy the ride! If too overpowerd change to the single fin option and you are back laughing again but for most days keep the thrusters on, really sweet!

I have not tried the other boards so I can’t really tell if any one is better than the other, all I can say is that you will not be disappointed if you go for the 3K. It’s a great board!!!

when can i have a 3kwave?
